Amid 'Thor' Queerbaiting Backlash, Taika Waititi Says 'We're All Queer'

The gay gods are not happy with "Thor: Love and Thunder" director Taika Waititi. After hyping up the newest film in the superhero franchise as "super gay," queer fans are calling Waititi out for queerbaiting.

As reported by Pink News, fans were left disappointed when the promised queer romance for character Valkyrie (played by Tessa Thompson) was little more than a kiss on the hand.

Waititi's character in the film, Korg, was also confirmed to be part of the LGBTQ+ community, yet everything according to fans felt close but no cigar.

A review from Time Magazine called the film "overstuffed and aimless," but it was apparently not stuffed with real depictions of LGBTQ+ love.

When asked by Out magazine why he was intent on telling queer stories, Waititi responded with "we're all queer."

He added: "Just to varying degrees of where we are on the spectrum I think. I think, innately, humans have all got some degree of queerness in them."

With Thor, "It's great to be able to finally get Tessa's character, and my character as well, where we're both queer," he said. "I mean, I'm just amazed to hear what my friends think of me. I'll be like, 'Hey guys, you're looking at a little gay icon over here,' and it feels really amazing."

Sure, Waititi. Anything to sell tickets.
