'Ratched' Star Charlie Carver Says Fellow Out Actor Slapped Him, Said He's 'Too Effeminate'

During an interview with Variety, out actor Charlie Carver, who appears in Ryan Murphy's "Ratched" and the remake of "The Boys in the Band," said that a gay actor slapped him at an Emmy's afterparty in 2015 after telling him he's "too effeminate."

"I was told that I needed to 'get it under control' around people in the business," Carver, 32, said.

Though he did not reveal the name of the actor, the "Teen Wolf" said he worked with him in the past, adding that the alleged assault came when he was waiting in the valet area. Carver explained that he bumped into the actor again while waiting for his car and decided to ask him what he meant by getting his effeminate nature "under control." But he says the actor decided to slap him instead of responding.

"It wasn't playful but intentional, pointed and meant to be instructive. A slap. I told him that if he ever touched me again, I would name him," Carver told Variety. "That was the moment when I said to myself, 'I can't do this. I cannot police myself in that way.'"

A few months later, Carver took to Instagram to come out as gay. In the past, Carver has opened up about his sexuality in interviews and more recently spoke about his roles in the new Netflix/Murphy projects.
