It's Official: A Transgender Superhero is Coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe will be getting its first transgender superhero, according to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.
Feige's comments came during a question-and-answer session Saturday at the New York Film Academy, CNN reports. A student asked the exec if there are any plans in the works to add more LGBTQ character to the MCU, specifically a trans character.
"Yes, absolutely yes," Feige said. "Very soon. In a movie we're shooting right now."
He did not specify who or which movie they will appear, however, or when the film or TV show will be released.
Marvel has come under fire for its lack of diversity, but the studio and company has promised to be more inclusive in both in front and behind the camera. Feige also confirmed that there will be a LGBTQ character in the upcoming Marvel film "The Eternals," Entertainment Weekly reports.
