Writers in the Loft Features Karin Slaughter's 'The Good Daughter'

READ TIME: 3 MIN.

The Music Hall's Writers in the Loft series welcomes to the stage the Karin Slaughter, internationally bestselling author of "The Kept Woman" and "Pretty Girls," on September 27. She will talk about her latest work, "The Good Daughter," which debuted at #2 on the New York Times Book Review list.

The event includes a 30-minute presentation and a moderated Q+A facilitated by Patricia Lynch, Executive Producer of Writers in the Loft.

"I'm excited to welcome Karin Slaughter to The Music Hall Loft," said Lynch. "Her latest thrilling page-turner, 'The Good Daughter,' is rich with family secrets, surprises, and suspense."

The 7 p.m. event includes an author presentation and moderated Q+A, plus book signing and meet-and-greet. It will be held at the Music Hall Loft at 131 Congress Street, in downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

The novel is a searing, spellbinding blend of cold-case thriller and psychological suspense. Charlotte and Samantha Quinn's happy small-town family life was torn apart by a terrifying attack on their family home. It left their mother dead. It left their father -- Pikeville's notorious defense attorney -- devastated. And it left the family fractured beyond repair, consumed by secrets from that terrible night.

Twenty-eight years later, Charlie has followed in her father's footsteps to become a lawyer herself -- the ideal good daughter. But when violence comes to Pikeville again and a shocking tragedy leaves the whole town traumatized, Charlie is plunged into a nightmare.

Not only is she the first witness on the scene, but it's a case that unleashes the terrible memories she's spent so long trying to suppress. Because the shocking truth about the crime that destroyed her family nearly thirty years ago won't stay buried forever. Packed with twists and turns, brimming with emotion and heart, "The Good Daughter" is fiction at its most thrilling.

Slaughter is one of the world's most popular and acclaimed storytellers. Published in 36 languages, with more than 35 million copies sold across the globe, her 16 novels include the Grant County and Will Trent books, as well as the Edgar-nominated "Cop Town" and the instant New York Times bestselling novel "Pretty Girls." A native of Georgia, Slaughter currently lives in Atlanta. Her Will Trent series, Grant County series, and standalone novel "Cop Town" are all in development for film and television.

Akin to The Music Hall's anchor literary series, Writers on a New England Stage, Writers in the Loft features bestselling authors in a smaller, more intimate space.
