Twitter Censors Trump's Tweets Again

Wednesday June 24, 2020

Twitter is once again censoring President Donald Trump's tweets. On Tuesday, the social media platform added a warning on a tweet he made in which he warned if protesters attempted to set up an "autonomous zone" in Washington, D.C. they would be "met with serious force!" CNN reports.

"We've placed a public interest notice on this Tweet for violating our policy against abusive behavior, specifically, the presence of a threat of harm against an identifiable group," Twitter said.

Trump's message is also no longer able to be shared or retweeted by Twitter users, including supporters of the President. The company added that even though Trump's tweet broke its rules his message "will remain on the service given its relevance to ongoing public conversation."

Over the last few months, Twitter has been flagging some of the president's tweets, including blocking a Trump campaign video tribute to George Floyd over a copyright claim and adding a warning to a tweet about protests in Minneapolis, saying it violated the platform's rules about "glorifying violence."
