A fitness instructor was found beaten to death inside his Baltimore, Md. apartment on Nov. 8, The Baltimore Sun reports.

Baltimore police are currently looking for suspects in the murder of Brendon Michaels, 43, who has been identified as gay by a number of LGBT publications. According to an autopsy, Michaels was beaten to death and his death was ruled a homicide. Investigators do not yet have a motive, according to The Baltimore Sun.

"The victim was found inside at this location after a concerned co-worker hadn't heard from the victim in a while, but the individual called police and the Fire Department went in, and that's when they found the victim inside," Baltimore Police Detective Jeremy Silbert told Baltimore NBC-affiliate news station WBAL TV11.

Michaels, a fitness instructor at Carroll Community College, graduated from the school with an associate degree in 1998. In 1999, he was hired as a full-time fitness instructor on campus. In 2008, he became the coordinator of the campus fitness class and then in 2014, he was certified as a personal trainer.

"He was high energy, passionate about fitness and always willing to help anyone in need," Carrol Community College President Dr. James Ball said of Michaels in a statement. "Brendon will be truly missed and will never be forgotten."

In 2011, Michaels won $50,000 playing the Maryland lottery.
